Coarse Fishing

Cardiff Bay has developed into a healthy coarse fishery with a good diversity of habitats and fish species which should maintain the interest of both novice and expert anglers. Species present include roach, chub, dace, perch, bream, carp, rudd and pike.

At present fishing is permitted from Hamadryad Park on the River Taff, between Grangemoor Park and Sanatorium Park on the River Ely, and the Barrage Embankment, as shown on the map.

There are also four purpose-built angling platforms on the River Ely just above Penarth Road suitable for disabled anglers. Cardiff Harbour Authority is working to obtain funding to build additional platforms at other locations.

Courses and Events

Cardiff Harbour Authority is keen to encourage new anglers to the sport and will be running coaching courses and events throughout the year.
