Things to know about us!

Cardiff Bay Water Activity Centres comprise of Cardiff Sailing Centre and Cardiff Rowing Centre:

Cardiff Sailing Centre

Cardiff Sailing Centre is a specialist Royal Yachting Association (RYA) Training Centre that was founded in 1974 at Llanishen Reservoir.

Now located on Cardiff Bay Barrage, the centre is also an RYA OnBoard Centre, an RYA Sailability Centre, hosts a team15 Club and we have the inSport Bronze award from Disability Sport Wales. It is also a flagship centre for the 1851 Trust's INEOS Rebels Crew programme.

Cardiff Rowing Centre

Cardiff Rowing Centre is ideally situated alongside Channel View Leisure Centre in a purpose built facility in South Cardiff, on the edge of the River Taff.

With its dedicated slipway and pontoons, the water is a stone's throw from the facility. There are also excellent links to the Taff Trail and the rest of Cardiff Bay, as well as rowing, archery and laserblast.

Managed by Cardiff Harbour Authority, the Centres have introduced thousands of individuals, families and schools to the exciting world of watersports.

The Centres offer a wide range of courses that will take you from being a complete novice to a fully qualified instructor. All ages are catered for through a comprehensive programme, where you can receive tuition on a weekly basis, or by attending one of our many multi-day courses.

Over the years, we have taught numerous schools, families and other organisations to sail and windsurf, with many participants coming back on subsequent courses to further their skills.

Access for All

We are commited to developing and providing opportunities to all, by delivering accessible adventurous activities in partnership with the Innovate Trust and RYA Cymru Wales, we offer sessions that cater for a wide range of disabilities.

To show we are commited to inclusive sport, we hold the Bronze Award from Disability Sport Wales.

Environmentally Friendly

Most people these days are more than aware of the impact we all have on the environment. Those of us who spend our leisure time out of doors are very conscious about the need to protect the natural environment by adopting environmentally responsible practices. We hold BS EN ISO 14001: Environmental Management, the world's most recognized environmental management standard. This links into the overall sustainability policy of the Harbour Authority and Cardiff Council.
